When you first know or suspect that your child may be neurodivergent, all sorts of questions go through your mind, from the profound (“Will my child ever be able to live independently?”) to the more mundane (“How will I get him to eat his vegetables?”). So what can SEND HUGS do for you?

Bespoke 1-to-1 coaching

Sometimes, we all need a bit of one-to-one help to find out what options are available to us, learn more about them and decide which is the best route for our child and our family.

SEND HUGS offers one hour coaching sessions, paid for either individually or as a block of six sessions, in which you can learn more about these options, make decisions and arm yourself with the tools you need to move forward.

It can be hard to get away if you have a child with severe separation anxiety, and often the only time you have to yourself can be outside normal business hours. As a busy working parent myself, I can identify with the need to juggle work with childcare. We can discuss the times that are suitable for you, and sessions can be held face to face (within a 15 mile radius of Chesham) or online via Zoom.

For busy working parents, there is also an option of shorter, half hour online sessions which can be held during your lunch break.

Pricing: Initial 20 minute consultation free, then £60 per hour of one-to-one coaching, £35 per half hour lunchtime session, or purchase a block of 6 hours (to include at least two one hour full sessions with the remainder being full or lunchtime sessions) for £330.

Webinars

The world of SEND is a minefield of acronyms, jargon and at times seemingly deliberate obfuscation. The legislation and guidance are complex and are frequently not followed by local authorities and schools which are desperately short of resources, both financial and human.

Neurodivergent children haven’t read the parenting books and frequently do not respond well to traditional parenting techniques. Loving parents are infinitely resourceful, and we are often so attuned to our children that we find ways to parent them which work for us but can be frowned upon by older relatives, schools, and our friends. And then there are the days when nothing works, and we feel that we have failed as parents.

SEND HUGS produces regular webinars to help you navigate and embrace the world of neurodiversity, both outward-looking in seeking the external help that your child needs for their education and health needs, and inward-looking in discussing parenting methods which have been proven to work well with neurodivergent children.

The next webinar is entitled Where Do I Begin? and will take place on Tuesday 3 December at 7:30 pm.

Community of HUGS

SEND HUGS doesn’t work in a vacuum, and one of my aims is to create a community of parents who offer each other help, understanding, guidance and support as they go through this journey together.

To help create that community and to guide you further along the way, the Community of HUGS is a members’ area which gives you full access to a library of resources, book reviews, past webinars, an online discussion forum and other useful materials for a low monthly fee.

There is no minimum subscription period, and you can cancel your membership at any time.
